Leadership Training Day 3

Have a wonderful weekend!

I attended a You.Lead.Now. Leadership Training provided by the Kansas Leadership Center earlier this year, to view previous entries click on Day 1 or Day 2

Day 3:

I was looking forward to this day. The last day was only a half day and I was ready to go home and get back to my daily routine. Three days away from the office, usually equates to an overload of work when you make it back. I missed my home, my husband, my pets, and my bed.

On the last day, we met with each of our groups one more time before the conference was over. Things seemed to flow much smoother than the two previous days. Everyone understood the way each group was intended to work.  Our small groups shared the last the one or two problems that participants brought to the conference. Our medium sized group no longer felt like we were at war. It was a nice way to end the conference.

We had an additional meeting on the last day, The Center wanted to hear how we felt things went and what we did or didn’t like about the training so far. It was interesting to hear what people shared and how similarly people thought about the training. At the end of the day, which was around noon, we also received an evaluation form to fill out before we left.

There were a couple of things I would have liked to see a little different, but overall it was a good experience. I wish we could have had more time with our small groups, not just to help each other with problems, but socialize and maybe get some back story about their situations. Many people went in expecting things to run a particular way and when they didn’t a few people seemed upset. That’s a big part of the experience, learning a different way to lead.

Have you ever had a time when things didn’t go your way? How did you react to that?
