There is help, there is hope, this is temporary.

I recently finished watching the Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why. For those who don’t know anything about the series, the first season chronicles 13 reasons why Hannah Baker, a high school student commits suicide, and the second season deals with the aftermath of that suicide. What bothered me the most about Hannah’s situation was that at least twice when she reached out for help, there was no help that came. I know as a young person sometimes it feels like this world is giving you more than you can handle, and even those who say they care really don’t. I also know that sometimes it seems like you would be in less pain and the world would be better off if you weren’t here. Please know though that isn’t true. Please know that there are people that will help if you just ask. Talk to a friend, talk to a family member, talk to a counselor, but what ever you do, please talk to someone. If you know someone who you think is struggling, reach out to them and ask. Asking them if they are thinking about harming themselves will not put that idea in their head. Finally, there are 24 hour crisis lines which you can call for assistance. If you are more comfortable texting, the number is 741741. You can text that 24 hours a day. You can also call 1-800-273-8255 for assistance. Whatever number you use, if you are struggling, please remember, there is help out there.
